FOLLOWING MY PASSION

After a missed flight connection, I arrived 28 hours late to the small Kilimanjaro airport in Tanzania without my luggage. Exhausted, hungry, and distraught was not how I intended to start my climbing journey. Armed with only my hiking boots, a small travel pack, some borrowed gear, an underwire bra, and one pair of underwear, I began to walk anyway. With each footstep, I gained more peace, confidence, and acceptance in a different way of being. I met new people, learned to slow down, and heard stories from different lives around the globe. Five days later, I summited the "roof of Africa" and realized the journey I started with so little ended with more than I could've imagined.

My tenacity, instincts, open-mindedness, resilience, acceptance, patience, listening, confidence, and ability to connect got me up that mountain.
